Live Stage Rules
Last updated: October 24, 2026
Template notice: These rules are a starting template and not legal advice. Copyright, political-speech, recording and live-streaming-with-minors laws vary by country and state. Have a qualified attorney review them before you open Stages to the public.
Stages are live, original, in-the-moment shows: lessons, freestyle music, talks, big ideas and open conversations. They run on trust, so these rules apply to hosts and to everyone watching. They add to our Terms and Community Guidelines.
How a Stage works
- Everyone arrives silent and faceless. Viewers start with their microphone off and their face hidden. They can only turn either on if the host invites them on stage, and they can turn them off again at any time.
- Positive participation. Viewers can send emoji cheers, short kind notes to the host, and a gentle "slower" or "got it" signal. Notes are filtered, are seen by the host only, and appear for everyone only if the host features them.
- The host is in charge of the room. A host can mute anyone (this switches their mic and face off and pauses their notes and cheers), remove anyone from the Stage, turn notes off, use slow mode, and lock the room.
- Live and gone. VicPicQuest does not record or replay Stages. When the Stage ends, it's over, like a real room.
Who can host
Hosts must be 18 or older and must accept these rules. We may disable hosting for anyone who breaks them.
Original and freestyle only (hosts)
Stages are for your own voice, your own music and your own ideas. That keeps the stage free for everyone and means you never need music licenses to host here.
- Do: perform your own original songs, freestyle, improvise, play your own instruments, teach what you know, talk through your ideas, and use music that you created or that is genuinely free to use (public domain, or licensed to allow this kind of use, such as CC0).
- Don't: play commercial recordings, backing tracks or instrumentals you don't own, or perform cover songs of other people's music. Don't show or read out films, TV, paid courses, textbooks or software you don't have permission to share.
- You are responsible for what you play and say on your Stage. If you aren't sure you have the right to use something, don't use it.
- We respond to copyright notices under our DMCA policy. We may end a Stage immediately and disable the accounts of repeat infringers.
Talks, ideas and politics
Hosts may talk about politics, social issues, religion and other big ideas. Strong opinions are welcome. Cruelty, threats and lies that hurt people are not.
- Debate ideas, not people. No harassment, bullying, doxxing or hate directed at people for who they are.
- No threats, no calls for violence, and no praise or promotion of violent extremism.
- No impersonating a real person, candidate, official or organization, and no suggesting that VicPicQuest endorses you or your views.
- No false information about when, where or how to vote, or other attempts to suppress voting.
- VicPicQuest does not handle donations or political advertising. If you ask for money or support for a campaign or cause, you are responsible for following the laws that apply to you.
- You run your room. Use mute, remove, slow mode and notes-off to keep the conversation civil, and invite guests on stage only when you want to hear them.
Audience notes are filtered to keep them kind, so some strongly critical words are not allowed in notes. The host speaks freely within these rules, and guests the host invites on stage do too.
Safety
- Members under 18 may watch, cheer and use the "slower" and "got it" buttons. They cannot go on stage, send written notes, or have their face shown, and they are never invited as guests.
- Never ask a viewer, and especially a minor, for personal information, private contact details, photos, or to meet. Never share links or contact details in a Stage.
- No nudity, sexual content, graphic violence, dangerous activities or illegal activity.
- Hosts must act quickly to mute or remove anyone who causes a disturbance, and should report serious problems with the Report tools or the Feedback page.
Recording and privacy
VicPicQuest does not record Stages. If you record your own Stage with other software, tell your audience first and follow the laws that apply to you. Do not record, screenshot or redistribute other people's faces or voices without their permission. Because viewers are faceless and silent by default, most people never appear on a recording at all.
Time limits
The daily time limits and bedtime lock for members under 18 apply to watching Stages. Adults hosting a live Stage are not interrupted mid-show.
Enforcement
We may end a Stage, remove content, disable hosting, or suspend accounts that break these rules. Serious violations, including anything that endangers a child, may be reported to law enforcement.
